So the largest water district in California is again providing rebates. Specifically, rebates are available for customers who replace sod grass with synthetic turf. Yes, artificial grass water rebates are back once again!
The revived SoCal Water$mart rebate program was restarted with $9 million. Yet, rebates rely on local municipalities and water providers to at least match participation. Currently, the rate is $.30-per-square-foot rebate for replacing sod grass.
Fake grass is among the water-saving products eligible for rebates through the SoCal Water$mart. It is an effort of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD).
“We’re excited that the MWD has realized the importance of this rebate program. Also we are glad they found the money to support it again,” said Larry Reno. Incidentally, he is the district manager for NewGrass Landscape & Design, California’s premier synthetic lawn company. “We’re ready to help customers make the water-saving switch to artificial grass and get any rebates!”
Pasadena is among the cities that has stepped up to match the SoCal Water$mart rebate. A spokeswoman for Pasadena Water and Power told news outlets synthetic grass saves thousands of gallons. This water would otherwise go towards watering grass.
For several months, no money was available for the SoCal Water$mart rebate program. Even with the program renewal, officials advise customers that funding is sparse. Submitting a rebate application does not guarantee receiving a rebate. Artificial grass water rebates will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
